About Engadine Museum

The Engadine Museum in Sankt Moritz in the Upper Engadine is a folklore museum. Richard Campell, the founder and builder of the museum, desired to create a special house for his collection of fixtures from Bünde and Engadine. The floor plan and outside structure must correspond to the typical Engadine residence and inside the individual rooms he wanted to install ancient rooms, which he should salvage for posterity. He desired to make the house available to the general public as a cultural-historic museum.
His grasp builder Nicolaus Hartmann jun. The residence turned into built in 1905-06 inside the typical Engadine fashion, whereby he constructed older homes: oriel, coat of arms and Corridor lattices of the first ground come from the demolished Salis House Turtach in Celerina, adorned with baroque adorns wood gate with solid fort from Zernez. On the side are placing arcades after the model of the antique monastery Cha Gronda in Unter- Scuol , now the Lower Engadine Museum, attached. In 1911, the Engadine Museum become sold with financial means from throughout Switzerland and transferred to the inspiration of the identical call.
