About Cucuteni
Cucuteni is a commune in Iași County, Romania, with a populace of 1,446 as of 2002. It is located forty five km from the metropolis of Iași and 10 km from the metropolis of Tagu Frumos. Neighbouring villages and communes are Todirești, Tagu Frumos and Cotnari and Ruginoasa. The name of the village is derived from Romanian phrase "cucuta, which means hemlock. The commune is composed of 4 villages: Baceni, Babaesi, Cucuteni and Sacaresti. A trove of ancient artifacts changed into located in Cucuteni in 1884.
It turned into decided that these artifacts have been produced by means of an historic human beings whose lifestyles and tradition had previously been unknown to fashionable students. Those students named the newly determined historical tradition the Cucuteni tradition, after the call of the village in which artifacts of that tradition had first been found. In Cucuteni village there's an archeological museum showing artifacts of the Cucuteni way of life, in addition to a church constructed within the 15th century for the duration of the rule of Stephen III of Moldavia .
