About Warsaws Old Town Market Place

Warsaw's Old Town Market Place is the center and oldest part of the Old Town of Warsaw, capital of Poland. Immediately after the Warsaw Uprising, it was systematically blown up by the German Army. After World War II, the Old Town Market Place was reestablished to its prewar appearance. The Old Town Market Place is the genuine heart of the Old Town, and until the point when the finish of the eighteenth century it was the core of all of Warsaw. It started in the late thirteenth century, while the city was established. Here the delegates of organizations and traders met in the town lobby worked before 1429, pulled down in 1817, and fairs and the incidental execution were held.

The houses around it spoke to the Gothic style until the point that the considerable fire of 1607, after which they were reconstructed in late-Renaissance style and in the end in late-Baroque style by Tylman Gamerski in 1701. The present structures were reproduced between 1948– 1953, to look as they did in the seventeenth century when it was generally occupied by rich dealer families. The Warsaw Mermaid, a bronze figure by Konstanty Hegel, has remained as the image of Warsaw since 1855.
