Galdhopiggen

Galdhopiggen is the longest mountain in lom, Scandinavia, and Northern Europe, at two thousand four hundred sixty-Nine 2,469 above sea level. It is arranged inside the region of Lom in Oppland, in the Jotunheimen mountain area.EtymologyGaldhøpiggen means "the apex/spike of the mountain Galdhø."

The key part of the mountain is gald "douse mountain road", the last segment is hø " balanced mountain." An old road between Gudbrandsdalen and Sogn goes underneath the mountain.HistoryGeologically Galdhøpiggen, as a vast bit of Southern Norway's mountain ranges, has a place with the Caledonian crumbling.

The apex is made of gabbro, a hard yet rather coarse-grained shake which is found in most of the Jotunheimen run. In the midst of the ice ages, it was enthusiastically glaciated and got its present shape.

The theory that the most astonishing summits in Norway stayed over the ice as nunataks have been surrendered by for the most part geologists.

It fits well with the present verdure in the zone, yet it doesn't fit well with the present learning of ice thickness and the results of glaciation.
