The first view of the mosque itself will stun you into submission to its indescribable beauty. This is third largest mosque in the world and is situated on the coast of Casablanca facing Arabian Sea. Its main feature is the minaret at the front of the mosque which at 210m, is the largest minaret in the world. Half of the mosque area is over the Atlantic waters. There is a hall in mosque with a glass floor which is directly above the sea, so that worshipers can kneel over the sea. The hall can accommodate up to 25,000 pilgrims at a time. Additional 80,000 can be accommodated in the yard and gardens around the mosque. The architecture might be influenced by age old styles but the features are all modern like heated floors, electric doors and sliding roofs. The night view of the mosque when it is partially illuminated is simply awesome.
