About Carlow County Museum

Carlow County Museum is a county museum documenting the history of County Carlow. Located on College Street in Carlow town, the building changed into originally the Presentation Convent which also homes the Carlow Library and Archives. The Museum includes 4 exhibition rooms housing everlasting and brief presentations. The various series consists of objects that cowl the archaeological, history, social records and folk lifestyles of the neighborhood vicinity. The Museum became based by the Carlow Historical & Archaeological Society CHAS, then the Old Carlow Society, in 1973 and became run by means of the Society on a voluntary foundation till 2002. The collections were housed first inside the vintage Christian Brothers' building, and latterly the previous theatre room of the Town Hall from 1979. The Museum turned into reopened inside the redeveloped convent building in 2012, the ultimate of the buildings to open on this new cultural region. It is now operated by way of Carlow Town Council and Carlow County Council in affiliation with the CHAS.
