About Tambekar Wada

Tambekar Wada is an old place haveli in Baroda where one can enjoy the mythological painting of Mahabharata and Ramayana. The place is a typical four store structure where once the Diwan of Baroda reside. The place is under the protection of Archeological survey of India.

The place is one of the historical places which consists some of the very amazing ancient murals depicting the stories of Mahabharata and Ramayana in very beautiful way. Most of the paintings have been restored by the Archeological Survey of India. Paintings like childhood breaking pot of Lord Krishna, Lord Ganesh in childhood etc. there are about three hundred paintings from the first to the third floor. The paintings are not only painted in the walls but also on the door frames.

Out of the many rooms of the place, only some are open for public viewing. A visit to the place is a must when anyone is visiting Vadodara. It gives a certain pride when viewing such plethora of colorful paintings intertwined with the heritage. Perhaps one of the best places in Vadodara and the perfect place for art and culture lover.
