Talaja lies on the Shatrunjaya River, about 32 km from Palitana. Talaja with its tradition of Jainism, Buddhism and Hinduism allows for a confluence of cultures. The hill in the town houses the notable Jain Temple of Talaja. The Jain history associated with Palitana is incredible. All of these temples are dedicated to Jain Tirthankaras. There are 13 Buddhist rock-cut caves along the hill which are a striking feature of this place. The caves are around 3000 years old, still standing as a symbol of India’s glorious religious past. There is also a Hindu Temple located on the same hill.
