About Nokrek National Park

Nokrek National Park, the middle location of Nokrek Biosphere Reserve, is a country wide park located approximately 2 km from Tura Peak in West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya, India. UNESCO introduced the National Park to its listing of biosphere reserves in May 2009. Along with Balphakram National Park, Nokrek is a hotspot of biodiversity in Meghalaya. Nokrek has a populace of the pink panda that has generated hobby in the global.

One became accidentally shot by means of Dr. J. Lao in Nineteen Sixties. Nokrek is likewise a crucial habitat of the Asian elephant. The park had 8 species of cats, ranging from tiger to marbled cat but the modern popularity of the previous is uncertain. There are 7 varieties of primates in Nokrek. The uncommon stump tailed macaque is often seen close to the primary trek to the height. The pig tailed macaque also happens. Hoolocks are commonplace and their calls might be heard throughout Nokrek. Nokrek is also an Important Bird Area.
