Seven kilometres trekking from Tapovan will land tourists at Nandanvan camping ground, which is known for offering the view of peaks like Mt. Kedardome (6940 m), Mt. Shivling (6543m), Mt. Meru (6,660 m) and Kirti Bamak Glacier. Nandanvan also offers the astounding view of famous peaks like Bhagirathi, Sudarshana, Thalay and Sagar.
The scenic Nandanvan offers a panoramic view of the surroundings. The trek to Nandanvan begins at Gangotri. Gangotri is considered to be the mythological source of river Ganga. The temple at Gangotri was built by Amar Singh Thapa, a Gurkha General. The Gangotri to Nandanvan trek is one of the spiritual as well as adventurous journeys in the Garhwal Himalayan region. This is a long trek over the terminal glacial moraine and steep ascents and descents. While there is direct access from Gomusk to Nandanvan, tourists can also trek to Nandanvan from Tapovan by crossing the massive Gaumukh Glacier. A further ascent starting from Nandanvan and following the Chaturangi glacier brings one to the Emerald green, Vasuki Tal. It is a 6 km trek from Nandanvan to Vasuki Tal. Nandanvan is famous for trekkers and pilgrims. This trek also gives one the honour of witnessing the origin of the mighty River Ganga.
