Kasar Devi

Kasar Devi is a small hamlet located in the peaceful vicintig of Kumaon hills, about 8 kms from Almora. The name of the village comes from the name of the local deity, Kasar Devi. It is one of the hidden jewels in Uttarakhand from a tourist point of view. A revered temple known as the Devi temple stands there, dedicated to Kasar Devi. It is a popular pilgrimage destination. 

With the background of the majestic panoramic views of the valleys, rivers and hamlets, the Kasar Devi has an unmatched serenity. The peace and tranquility attracts writers, poets and artists. Some eminent ones to have visited the Kasar Devi are Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens, Allen Ginsburg and Timothy Leary. 

Kasar Devi is famous for its temple dedicated to Kasar Devi. It is frequented by many local visitors and devotees from all around every year. It is well known among the westerners too who travel all the way to seek spirituality there. The view of Almora Valley from the place is spellbinding.
