The Agniswarar Temple is a Hindu sanctuary in the town of Kanjanur, 18 kilometers north-east of Kumbakonam. The directing god is Sukra Venus. In any case, the fundamental symbol in the sanctuary is that of "Agniswarar" or Shiva. In concordance with the Saivite conviction that Shiva is all-swarming, Sukra is accepted to be situated inside the stomach of the symbol of Shiva. The sanctuary was worked by the Medieval Cholas and revamped by the lords of the Vijayanagar Empire. The sanctuary has a 5-level rajagopuram encompassed by two prakarams. The sanctuary is respected by the verses of Appar and thus alluded as Padal petra stalam.
