Situated on a hill in Subathu, Gorkha Fort is one of the main tourist attractions of Parwanoo. The fort has a historical past. It is believed to have been founded by the Gurkha Army Chief Amar Singh Thapa, in order to ward off the British. The surrounding forest cover adds to its historical charm and has tourists flocking to see it. Even though it is almost in ruins today, the fort still stands strong as a symbol of native courage and history.
Tourists may also visit the Gurkha Museum which displays exhibits from the British era, dating back to 1812. Trekking in the nearby valley is also one of the popular activities.
