Chamoli is located in Uttarakhand and is considered to be the second largest district. The district is bounded by Tibet in North, districts of Uttarakhand like Pithoragarh and Bageshwar to the east, Almora to the south, Garhwal to the southeast, Rudraprayag to the west and Uttarkhashi to the northwest. Chamoli is considered to be the most beautiful of all in Uttarakhand as the scenic landscape is praiseworthy with the admixture of many pilgrimage centers and biodiversity spots.
Chamoli is also praised at the winter time as the district is highly popular with winter sports and amongst all Auli is considered to be the best skiing destination in whole of India. The famous Chipko Movement was held in this area of saving flora and fauna both.
