About Bhoothathankettu

Bhoothathankettu Dam and Reserve Forest has its story established in Hindu Mythology. It is trusted that the Ghosts Bhoothamtried to submerge the Trikkariyoor sanctuary whose divinity is Lord Shiva, by making a dam in the Periyar stream and flooding the region. To trap the Ghosts, Lord Shiva faked the sound of the chicken. The phantoms fled the waterway zone dreading of the light and the Dam whose follows can even now be found in the immense stones stayed inadequate.

Today the Bhoothathankettu Dam and Reserve Forest is cherished for climbing where you can see the buckle where the Ghosts were accepted to live while the dam makes for a lovely perspective of the stream itself. The place likewise offers drifting for youngsters and grown-ups.
