North of Somnath, on the way to Veraval, is the well known Lord Krishna sanctuary, Bhalka Tirtha, on the site where Krishna is said to have been erroneously shot in the foot. Close-by is Dehotsarg, where he capitulated to his mortal injury. The sanctuary at Bhalka Tirth is known as Mahaprabhuji's Bethak, and a tulsi tree has been planted in Lord Krishna's memory. The sanctuary likewise contains a delightful tribhangi symbol of Lord Krishna playing his woodwind. At the Dehotsarg Tirth, in the ninth century AD Shri Vallabhacharya gave talks on Shrimad Bhagvat Gita for seven days, and also the venerated Gita Mandir, which has eighteen marble columns with a part from the Bhagvat Gita engraved on every one.
