About Basantar Park

Basantar Park is one of the primary parks of Mathura city. It is located on the perimeters of River Basantar. This river is a small tributary coming from River Ravi in Punjab. It is a beautiful landscape garden that spreads in huge areas and hosts plenty of greenery, always affluent with seasonal vegetation and numerous swings and gaming regions for kids. The park is always complete of tourists in addition to local residents, attracting them to its beautiful surroundings.

Located at the gap of round 4.5 kms from Mathura Junction Railway Station, it lies very near State Highway no. 33. Not a long way from city, it's also one of the most revered weekend spot for picnic for youngsters and whole own family in Mathura City. This Park was conceptualized as a memorabilia of the victory of India at Basantar, a warfare fought between armies of India and Pakistan in the month of December 1971, for the liberty of Bangladesh. Also referred to as battle of Barapind, it became one of the vital battles fought in western region of the US.
