Avinashi Temple

Avinashi temple at Avinashi is situated at around 40 kilometers from Coimbatore along the street to Erode. It was developed at some point in the fifteenth century by Sundara Pandya of the Pandya tradition. As indicated by legend, two young men once came to shower in the tank here. One of them was gobbled up by the crocodile living in the lake.

Quite a while after that, the string function of the kid who survived was led in the midst of blended feelings. Sundaramoorthy Nayanar who was going by the zone came to hear the story. He was so moved by the tail that he formed and sang a melody to Lord Shiva imploring him to give back the dead kid to his folks.
