About Eragny
Eragny is a commune in the northwestern suburbs of Paris, France. It is placed 26.3 km from the center of Paris, in the new metropolis of Cergy Pontoise created inside the 1960s. Situated on the Oise River Eragny remained a small village till the 20th century. Its authentic population in all likely hoods settled across the town's fountain throughout the Roman period and named the location Heriniacus or Areniacus. The web site changed names several times over the following centuries Eraisgny, Eraigny, Erargny and subsequently settling on Eragny by means of the 10th century.
Local quarries have yielded stone equipment from the Lower and Middle Palaeolithic. Eragny and Conflans Sainte Honorine became as soon as an unmarried parish, with Eragny the main settlement. Documents from round 1100 AD spell the call as Herigniacus or Erinniacus. In the early 12th century the vicomte de Pontoise, Raoul Delies, gave a church committed to Saint Germain of Paris to the Cluniac Priory of Saint Martin des Champs. It is in 1564 that Jean d Alessa came from Italy to buy the seigniory of Eragny. Jean d Alesso 1513 to 72 become the primary recognised seigneur of Eragny.
