Dunkirk Carnival

Dunkirk's bonkers jamboree has a notoriety that goes a long ways past Dunkirk. The gathering keeps running from mid-January to the finish of March, however an opportunity to be here is for the three days before Ash Wednesday. These are the "Trois Joyeuses", when 40,000 revelers rampage in insane ensembles regularly unflattering drag for men.

On Sunday the "visscherbende" band parades through Dunkirk wearing yellow rain caps, playing tunes for individuals to participate and dance.
