Maha Navami
About Maha Navami
Maha Navami is praised on the navam or the ninth day of the Shukla paksha in the Indian month of Ashwina. As per English timetable, this falls in the long stretches of September and October. As indicated by fanciful stories, Devi Durga's fight against Mahishasur, the lord of devils went on for nine days. The ninth day is the last day before the Goddess prevailed upon the abhorrence with her energy and astuteness. So Maha Navami is likewise viewed as the eve of beginning anything new on Vijaya Dashami.
On this day, Goddess Durga is venerated as Saraswati—the god of information and insight. In Southern India, Ayudha Puja is organized and alongside the Goddess, devices, apparatuses, melodic instruments, books, supplies of numerous types including vehicles are designed and adored. This day is viewed as essential before beginning any new work on Vijaya Dashami.
