About Nexo Church

Nexo Church is the parish church of Nexo, a port on the jap coast of the Danish island of Bornholm. In the absence of information, it's far hard up to now the constructing precisely, even though it appears to have been hooked up on the end of the Middle Ages, to start with as a chapel for seafarers. Indeed, it turned into dedicated to St Nicholas, the purchaser saint of sailors. The church consists of a square Late Gothic nave and a Renaissance tower. The porch at the north facet dates from 1745. In 1760, the nave became extended with a northern wing. The southern porch become rebuilt in 1777 and in 1800, a sacristy turned into added on the jap quit of the nave.

The walls of the nave have been heightened via some 2 metres in 1731. The nave is built of fieldstone, the partitions now achieving a peak of five.10 metres. The original home windows now not exist. The more recent instantly-edged windows over the porches are in all likelihood designed as gallery windows. The different big wood-framed Empire windows have been added around 1850.
