About Surrey Museum

An old gag loader found at Sullivan in 1923, and a corroded six– shooter grabbed on a slope south of Cloverdale were the core around which the Surrey Museum's accumulations advanced. Antiques were grabbed by metropolitan work groups and conveyed to Claude Harvie, Municipal Engineer, who even as a young fellow was keen on Surrey's history. These things were the start of the gathering that in the end would frame the premise of the Surrey Museum's curio accumulation. With the opening of the new Municipal Hall in Cloverdale in 1912, all fairs and festivities were hung on the grounds alongside the old Surrey Center School situated at 168th Street and 60th Avenue. The 1881 Town Hall was key to these festivals.
