Trashigang Dzong

Trashigang Dzong is one of the biggest dzong fortification in Bhutan, situated in Trashigang city. The post was worked in 1659 to safeguard against Tibetan attacks. The dzong facilitated a religious network other than going about as the focal regulatory focal point of the Trashigang District, before they were moved because of the progressing reclamation. The post was worked in 1659 on an edge with soak bluffs on three sides, ignoring the Drangme Chhu and Gamri Chhu streams.

The development of the dzong was forecasted by Ngawang Namgyal who requested the Penlop of Trongsa, Chhogyal Minjur Tempa to put down nearby chieftains and build the dzong. As per legend, seeing the Dzong frightened the Tibetan armed force which withdrew while commenting that the Dzong was a "Sky Dzong and was not on the ground".

The dzong was additionally extended by Gyalsey Tenzin Rabgye in the vicinity of 1680 and 1694 and by Dzongpon Dopola in 1936. The dzong was blessed and named as Trashigang by Dudjom Jigdral Yeshe Dorje. After the 1962 Sino-Indian War, Bhutan permitted Indian fighters returning home to go through Eastern Bhutan. Anyway they were required to store their rifles at the ordnance in the Dzong, and continue through Bhutan unarmed. The rifles lie in the Dzong right up 'til the present time.
