Anyone having interest in carpets is welcome to make a visit to this handmade carpet factory situated in the north of Phuentsholing town. At 49 knots per square inch, woven from Indian wool and coloured with synthetic dyes, the carpets are not top-notch but the price is right, with a 1m-by-2m carpet selling for Nu 7000.
The factory specialises in bulk orders for many of Bhutanese monasteries and weaves mathra, the cloth used for a gho, for Nu 250 per sq metre. Handmade carpets are made in this factory, which is woven with synthetic dye and Indian wool.
