Acropolis

Greece would have been a lot less famous as a tourist destination minus the Acropolis.The word "Acropolis" means city by the edge.

Situated in the capital city Athens, Acropolis stands on a hill in the city. This is famous especially for "The Parthenon". The Parthenon is a temple dedicated to Goddess Athena.

This area has been inhabited from as early as 650 BC and incorporates all aspects which have a glimpse of the history of entire Greece. The view of Acropolis from city is simply magnificent, and so is the view of Athens from Acropolis.

Towering around the capital, the very sight of the Acropolis is really eye soothing but above all walking around on its grounds, it gives the visitor a feeling of awe. Truly, such great architectural magnificence at dispense is a real treat for the eyes.

Acropolis showcases the spirit Of the Greek Civilization

In the fifth century BC, Athens, took a leading position amongst the other city-states of the ancient world and it rightly showcases in the great Acropolis.

How can one believe the transformation of a a rocky hill into a unique monument of thought and the arts? But this stands to be true.

The most important monuments that were built during the Greek Era was the Parthenon, by Ictinus.

But unfortunately today only the remnants of the Acropolis stands witness to the Great Greek civilization.
