Tumacacori National Historical Park

Tumacácori National Historical Park is situated in the upper Santa Cruz River Valley in Santa Cruz County, southern Arizona. The recreation center comprises of 360 sections of land 1.5 km2 in three separate units. The recreation center secures the remnants of three Spanish mission networks, two of which are National Historic Landmark destinations. It additionally contains the point of interest 1937 Tumacácori Museum building, likewise a National Historic Landmark.

The principal Spanish Colonial Jesuit missions in the area were built up in 1691, Mission San Cayetano de Tumacácori at Tumacácori and Mission Los Santos Ángeles de Guevavi, are the two most seasoned missions in southern Arizona. The Franciscan church of Mission San José de Tumacácori, over the waterway from and supplanting Mission San Cayetano de Tumacácori, was worked in the 1750s. The third mission was built up in 1756, Mission San Cayetano de Calabazas.

The Mission San José de Tumacácori complex is available to people in general. Close-by are the recreation center's guest focus and the Tumacácori Museum in a memorable Mission Revival style building. The Guevavi and Calabazas missions are not open to the overall population, but rather can be gone by on saved visits drove by stop staff. The Tumacácori missions complex was initially secured as Tumacácori National Monument, in 1908 by President Theodore Roosevelt.It was recorded on the National Register of Historic Places on October 15, 1966. In 1990 the national landmark was redesignated a National Historical Park.
