Santa Claus Post Office is the only post office in the whole world having the Santa Claus name. The very first Santa Claus Post Office started in 1856. Soon after, people flocked to the Santa Claus Post Office to get the special postmark; so much that in the early 1930s the US Postal Department suggested changing the town’s name to avoid the Christmas season frenzy.

Fortunately, for everyone, that did not happen! James Martin kept noting letters and inevitably enrolled Jim Yellig to help in helping him compose back to kids over the world. Today, the non-benefit association, Santa Claus Museum, and the Santa's Elves Inc, arrange volunteers for answer every one of the kids' letters that surge this modest mail station amid the occasions. 22,000 letters were replied in 2015.
