Penguin Park
About Penguin Park
Experience the ponder of the season at Kansas City's vacation custom, Santa's Wonderland! Accumulate loved ones and spend a night commending the occasions with bubbly amusement by the Starlight STARS of Tomorrow, light shows and, obviously, a visit from Santa and his companions. Free and open to people in general. Bring your camera/telephone to take a photo with Santa.
Penguin Park started as a feature of Lakewood Greenway, a zone gained by the Parks Department in 1957. Vernon Jones, the Kansas City North stops area manager, made and constructed figures for Santa's Wonderland in Gillham Park.
After another representative made a smaller than normal penguin for Santa's Wonderland, Jones chose to manufacture a huge penguin in 1965. The penguin was put on the northern zone of Lakewood Greenway and was a hit. Jones made different creatures for the site, for example, a giraffe, elephant and kangaroo.
