In 1867 the Springfield National Cemetery was made as a last resting place for Civil War Confederate Soldiers. At first a considerable measure of the officers that were covered in the burial ground were casualties of the Battle of Wilson's Creek.
As the years have advanced the burial ground has been opened up for all veterans. The burial ground is a normally serene place and an amazing spot to visit for anybody hoping to spend a couple of calm hours recollecting the considerable men and ladies that kicked the bucket ensuring their nation. The burial ground is home to a few Medal of Honor beneficiaries also.
