About Gadsby s Tavern
Gadsby's Tavern is a memorable business working at 138 North Royal Street in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. Fabricated c. 1785 and extended in 1792, the bar was a focal piece of the social, monetary, political, and instructive existence of the city of Alexandria, and was assigned a National Historic Landmark in 1963. The historical center houses shows of early American life in Virginia, and the eatery works in the first lounge area, serving a blend of period and present day foods.
Gadsby's Tavern comprises of two structures: one is the bar worked around 1785, and the other is the 1792 City Hotel. John Gadsby rented and worked them from 1796 to 1808, and it is his name joined to the area. As of now, the building is home to Gadsby's Tavern Restaurant, American Legion Post 24, and Gadsby's Tavern Museum, a social history exhibition hall.
