Virginia City jumped up as a boomtown with the 1859 disclosure of the Comstock Lode, the main real silver store revelation in the United States, with ious mines opening.Virginia City is an evaluation assigned place CDP that is the province seat of Story County, Nevada. It is a piece of the Reno-Sparks Metropolitan Statistical Area. At the city's pinnacle of a populace in the mid-1870s, it had an expected 25,000 inhabitants. As of the 2010 Census, the number of inhabitants in Virginia City was around 855, and that of Story County 4,000.Peter O'Riley and Patrick McLaughlin are credited with the revelation of the Comstock Lode. Henry T. P. Comstock's name was related to the revelation through his own particular ruses. As per fables, James Fennimore, "Old Virginny Finney," initiated the town when he stumbled and broke a jug of bourbon at a cantina entrance in the northern segment of Gold Hill, soon to wind up Virginia City.
