About Woodley
Woodley is a town and common area in Berkshire, England. It is the biggest suburb of Reading, arranged 4 miles east of the town focus and is joined to the neighboring huge suburb of Earley, 2 miles toward the west, and 5 miles from the notable market town of Wokingham. Adjacent are the towns of Sonning, Twyford, Winnersh, Hurst and Charvil.
The toponym Woodley is gotten from Old English words signifying "a clearing in the wood". In days of yore, Woodley was a piece of the religious ward of Sonning. In the west of Woodley, Old Bulmershe Manor was the home of the Blagrave family and likely origination of the 17th century mathematician, John Blagrave. The bordering place of Bulmershe Court, generally Woodley Lodge, was worked in 1777 by James Wheble. The house was in this manner purchased by Henry Addington, around then Speaker of the House of Commons and later Prime Minister.
He lived there when not in London and was visited by noticeable figures of the age, including William Pitt the Younger and it is stated, King George III. In the Second World War the house was utilized by the US Army.
