About Rose Street Cottage of Curiosities

In 1989, the Cottage first became Sheerness Heritage Centre but in 2015 it became renamed Rose Street Cottage of Curiosities after coming underneath the umbrella of Sheppey Promenade charity. Promenade commenced in 2011 with a gathering of like-minded folks that had a imaginative and prescient of neighborhood organizations running collectively to have a good time Island lifestyles through a competition of arts, records and culture. Sheppey Promenade is in its 9th year. The subject matter for 2018 is Women in World War 1 and they are jogging a year- long Programme of occasions the use of the Cottage as our “home base” however taking area everywhere in the Island.

They are continuing to run the cottage to sell neighborhood Heritage and the Arts and create a Community hub. Promenade’s trustees are currently Chris Reed, Janys Thornton, Jeremy Thornton, Jo Eden, James Apps, Jeanette McClaren and Keven Lee. The building is owned by way of Swale Borough Council and Sheppey Promenade leases it from the Council. They pay, hire and all application bills and generate funds through offers, donations, vending and unique activities. They run entirely by way of volunteers.
