About Roman Town House

The Roman Town House in Dorchester is a Roman demolish inside Colliton Park, Dorchester, Dorset. Dorset County Council procured Colliton Park in 1933 as the site for the development of County Hall. The Town House was found in 1937/38 amid an archeological examination did by the Dorset Natural History and Archeological Society before the development of the new building. Plans for County Hall were changed so the Town House could be held nearby. The Town House is a planned old landmark and a Grade I recorded building.

It is limited on the north and west sides by North Walk and West Walk which are additionally planned landmarks having the remaining parts of the Roman bulwarks of the town just underneath surface level. The Town House has two chief scopes of rooms. The South Range including rooms 1 to 7 gets by in the arrangement type of rock and stone dividers on the grass secured site. The West Range involving rooms 8 to18 was mosaic stunned.
