About Darenth Country Park
Darenth Country Park is in Darenth close Dartford, in Kent, England. On the site of a previous destroyed clinic site Darenth Park Hospital, likewise the site of a planned antiquated landmark and the site of old Saxon entombments. Because of this assurance it was transformed into a thousand years open-space stop. In 1954, General Post Office engineers while burrowing a link trench past the Hospital, slice through a Saxon grave and furthermore recuperated a late sixth century silver plated square headed ornament and parts of a bronze yell. These finds were then given to the British Museum to research and store.
In 1978, 'Dartford and District Archeological Group' unearthed a trench on the site, before an arranging application was made by Associated Portland Cement Manufacturers Ltd. for chalk extraction on the site. This trench found an antiquated Saxon internment ground, with 12 Saxon graves, and in addition different curios from the period. The glass bowl is currently known as the 'Darenth bowl', is now in Dartford Borough Museum. The graves were then regarded sufficiently critical to be planned as an Ancient Monument.
