About Craigievar Castle

Craigie Castle is a pinkish harled manor particularly situated at south of Alford, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It was the seat of Clan Sempill and the Forbes family lived here for a long time until 1963, when the property was given to the National Trust for Scotland by William Forbes-Sempill.

Between November 2007 and October 2009, the palace was shut for its outside to be given another harl, returning it to what is accepted to be a nearby likeness the harling set up amid the renovation of 1820. It was revived to the general population in April 2010.

The palace is rumored to have been the motivation for Walt Disney's château theme. In 2013 the palace, its grounds, and a bequest of more than 200 sections of land 81 ha of connecting farmland and forest, entered their 50th year as a property of the National Trust for Scotland. They are available to people in general from Easter, or from the first of April, until the finish of September.
