About Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery

The University of Glasgow's Hunterian is the most established exhibition hall in Scotland. It covers the Hunterian Museum, the Hunterian Art Gallery, the Mackintosh House, the Zoology Museum and the Anatomy Museum.all situated in different structures on the primary grounds of the University in the west end of Glasgow.

The exhibition hall initially opened in 1807, in a uniquely built working off the High Street,1 abutting the first grounds of the University.2 When the University moved west to its new site at Gilmorehill to avoid packing and contamination in the downtown area the historical center moved as well. In 1870, the Hunterian accumulations were exchanged to the University's available site and relegated corridors in Sir George Gilbert Scott's neo-Gothic building.
