About All Saints Church
All Saints' Church, Bakewell, is the parish church of Bakewell, Derbyshire. It is a Grade I indexed building. The church turned into based in 920, for the duration of Anglo-Saxon times and the churchyard has 9th-century crosses. During restoration paintings, in the 1840s, many carved fragments of Anglo-Saxon stonework were found in and across the porch, as well as some historical stone coffins. The present church was began in the 12th century in Norman fashion; but, only the west the front and part of the nave survive from that time. The remainder of the church became built among 1220 and 1240.
The spire was introduced in 1340 but, was taken down in 1825, and the tower also removed in 1830. Before the recuperation work the church measurements have been from the level of the church floor to the top of the spire 180 ft, from east to west 153 feet, transepts from north to south 106 ft. All Saints' incorporates three early 15th century misericords, at the side of 18th - 19th century misericords inside the choir stalls.
