About Kigi
Kigi is a town and region of Bingol Province in the Eastern Anatolia area of Turkey. The chairman is Yilmaz Gunduz. The area has a populace of 3,188 out of which 1,604 live in the town of Kigi. Generally this region was managed by ious Armenian, Byzantine, Kurdish and Turkic administrations. The town turned out to be a piece of the Ottoman Empire in the mid 16th century. There were fights here between the Russians and Ottomans amid World War I. Amid the Middle Ages, Kigi had been a mint town of the Ilkhanids. Historically a close-by iron mine was utilized however mining halted in 1820.
