Segantini Museum

The Segantini Museum in Sankt Moritz shows works by the painter Giovanni Segantini. It was opened within the summer of 1908 and finished in September of the same year. It become built in line with the plans of the architect Nicolaus Hartmann as a type of walk-in monument. The creation with the mighty dome is based at the pavilion that Segantini had planned for his Engadine panorama on the 1900 Paris World's Fair.

In contrast to Segantini's authentic plans Hartmann reduced the constructing, flooring delivered and used neighborhood quarry stones in place of iron construction. In addition to pics by using the artist and his circle of relatives, the museum displays a few fifty works from all of Segantini's creative intervals. Particularly well-known are the images shown on permanent loan of the Otto Fischbacher Giovanni Segantini Foundation in the museum Ave Maria on the crossing, Bundnerin on the properly, early mass and midday in the Alps.
