Centre Durrenmatt Neuchatel

The Centre Durrenmatt Neuchatel reveals Friedrich Durrenmatt's artwork and drawings. It is part of Swiss National Library, just like Swiss Literary Archives, which has a close cooperation with CDN. The Centre Dürrenmatt, which become opened inside the September 2000 within the higher Neuchatel, is positioned inside the first Durrenmatt's residential area in 1952. The Swiss architect Mario Botta become assigned to rebuild the residence. As a place for discussion and studies, CDN helps important debates about Durrenmatt's inventive and literary works.

Beside the transient exhibition, the everlasting exhibition "Friedrich Durrenmatt, author and painter" is open for public visit. Readings, concert events, colloquiums and debates take area frequently in the CDN. Apart from severa exhibits of his literary works manuscript drafts and notes and rare exhibited artwork, the CDN gives a huge view over the Lake Neuchâtel and additionally the Bernese Alps. In 1952, Friedrich Dürrenmatt moved to his residence within the upper part of the city, wherein he lived and labored till his death on 14 December 1990.
