About Turning Torso

Turning Torso is a neo-futurist private high rise in Sweden and the tallest working in Scandinavia. Situated in Malmo on the Swedish side of the Oresund strait, it was fabricated and is possessed by Swedish agreeable affiliation HSB. It is viewed as the principal turned high rise on the planet. The task was outlined by Spanish planner, auxiliary architect, stone carver and painter Santiago Calatrava and formally opened on 27 August 2005. The pinnacle achieves a tallness of 190 meters (623 ft) with 54 storeys and 147 apartments.

In August 2015, it was declared that the building was the champ of the 10 Year Award from the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat. It won the 2005 Gold Emporis Skyscraper Award. This is a strong stable building developed in nine portions of five-story pentagons that curve in respect to each different as it rises; the highest section is contorted 90 degrees clockwise regarding the ground floor. Each floor comprises of a sporadic pentagonal shape pivoting around the vertical center, which is upheld by an outside steel structure.

The development of part of this building was highlighted on Discovery Channel Extreme Engineering TV program which indicated how a story of the building was built. The lofts were at first expected to be sold, yet lacking interest brought about the flats being let. The proprietor has a few times unsuccessfully attempted to offer the building. The construction costs were almost double the estimate.
