1. Tourism Ministry Approved Rs.20 Cr. to Promote Varanasi Tourism
In order to promote Varanasi as the most popular tourist spot in India, tourism ministry has cleared the project of Rs. 20 crore to organize various light and sound shows and preserve these two major temples of Gurudham and Markandey Mahadev in the city. This amount was sanctioned by Vinod Zutshi who is head of central sanctioning and monitoring committee (CSMC) Secretary-Tourist, Government of India before few days. As Varanasi comes under PRASAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spirituality Augmentation Drive) scheme this package will definitely boost the pilgrimage tourism in the city and will drive more tourists from various parts of the world may be for pilgrimage or for leisure.
Zutshi further added that Rs. 7 crore will be sanctioned in few months and the light show will trace the history of Sarnath with stupa as backdrop. The main intention of this fund allocation is to develop Sarangnath pond at Sarnath, which is highly known as the pilgrimage tourist spot. This project will further enlighten the significance of Lord Buddha’s life. The recent visit of PM Modi to China and Japan has emerged this idea and is implemented to promote the pilgrimage tourism in Varanasi.
