Christ of the Light

This little house of prayer was worked as an Arab mosque in the year 999 on the site of a prior Visigothic church. The first Moorish building has stayed in place with its arcaded veneer and a progression of vaulted horseshoe curves in the haven that review the Great Mosque of Cordoba. Hidden inside a block a divider, a valuable statue of Christ from the congregation was found by Alfonso VI and El Cid.

In the twelfth century, the mosque was changed over to a Christian place of love; the transept and Romanesque divider work of art date from this period. The apse with its visually impaired curves embodies Mudéjar-style Islamic-impacted design. A portion of the inside segments is from the Visigothic church.
