About St. Urban Tower

The Urban Tower in Kosice, Slovakia is initially a Gothic kaleidoscopic campanile with a pyramidal rooftop. It was raised in the fourteenth century. A congregation chime introduced in the pinnacle has been committed to Saint Urban, the benefactor of vine-dressers. The ringer was thrown in a form by the chime originator Franciscus Illenfeld of Olomouc in 1557. Its weight is 7 tons. In 1775 the pyramidal rooftop was developed with annion in the Baroque style with an iron deceive. An archade entry was raised around the pinnacle in 1912.
There are 36 old headstones originating from the fourteenth and fifteenth hundreds of years, one of these originates from the Roman Empire and goes back to the fourth century bricked into the outside dividers of the St. Urban Tower. In 1966 the pinnacle was harmed by flame and the St. Urban Bell was annihilated also. The remade tower was revived in 1971. The remodeled ringer was situated in the front of the pinnacle and a duplicate of the chime was introduced in the campanile. The East Slovak Museum set up a noteworthy display of foundrywork in the pinnacle after the recreation in 1977. It was evacuated in 1995. Today, there is an interesting wax gallery show in the pinnacle, depicting verifiable identities relating to Kosice's history.
