About Kosice Zoo

The Kosice Zoo is a zoo in Kosice, Slovakia in the neighborhood city part of Kavecany. Incorporating 292 hectares, it is the biggest zoo in Slovakia and the third biggest in Europe, however guests are permitted just in around 33% of this region. The zoo has around 170,000 guests every year. Development of the zoo began in 1979, and the zoo opened 7 hectares 17 sections of land to the general population in 1985 with just 23 species. A petting zoo was opened for kids in 2000. Creatures at the zoo are for the most part from Europe and Asia, however the zoo keeps some extraordinary species.
The zoo keeps 240 species including darker bear, lynx, emu, parrots, tamarins, raccoons, turtles, tortoises, zebras, camels, goats, ponies, gazelles, lions, tigers, buffalo, and hippos. Over the years, the zoo has been fruitful in reproducing the hucul horse. Having birthed 82 foals, since 1996 the zoo has been restoring a portion of its creatures to the general quality pool of the species. The zoo incorporates a 11-hectare 27-section of land off-guest territory for the steeds to wander. Other rearing endeavors at the zoo incorporate dark colored bears a litter of 5 conceived in 2002 is in the Guinness Book of World Records, baboons, lynx, Przewalski's steeds, Shetland horses, Chapman's zebras, Altai wapiti, Capybaras, and emus.
