Obninsk

Obninsk is a city in Kaluga Oblast, Russia, situated on the bank of the Protva River 100 kilometers or 62 mi southwest of Moscow and 80 kilometers or 50 mi upper east from Kaluga. The historical backdrop of Obninsk started in 1945 when the First Research Institute Laboratory "V", which later wound up known as IPPE was established. On June 27, 1954, in Obninsk begun activities of the world's first atomic power plant to create power for a power lattice. The city was worked alongside the plant with the end goal to help it.

Researchers, engineers, development specialists, educators and different experts moved to Obninsk from everywhere throughout the Soviet Union. Town status was conceded to Obninsk on June 24, 1956. The name of the city is taken from Obninskoye, the train station in Moscow-Bryansk railroad, worked in Tsarist occasions.
