About Nikolai Ostrovsky Recreation Park

Nikolai Ostrovsky Recreation Park is the biggest theme park in Rostov-on-Don. It was established in 1894 and is named after Nikolai Ostrovsky, a famous Soviet writer. In 1894, on the site of the present park, were planted the alleged Balabanov forests with a territory of 100 sections of land. The recreation center for a long time have changed its name: Proletarsky Park, Boris Sheboldaev Park, Maria Ulyanova Park and Rostselmash Recreation Park.

In the 1970s the recreation center got its present name — Nikolai Ostrovsky Recreation Park. The fundamental element of this park is its green manors, with uncommon types of trees and bushes being prsented there. A few trees are in excess of one hundred years of age now. Entertainment Park's territory is 63.1 hectares. There are a swimming pool, football fields, tennis courts, Olimp-2 Stadium and in excess of 40 attractions, among them is the rope park "Wilderness".

The recreation center has around 200 social and recreational occasions each year. In 2016 there was introduced the Monument to Don Signalmen so as to honor the 115th commemoration of the primary session of common radio correspondence in Russia. In November 2017 at the recreation center was opened the engineering piece "Sun Tree": it deals with sunlight based vitality, so at night and during the evening the tree surrenders the amassed vitality, lighting everything around.
