About Muzeul National Brukenthal

The Brukenthal National Museum is a museum, erected within the late 18th century in Sibiu, Transylvania, Romania, housed inside the palace of Samuel von Brukenthal who was Habsburg governor of Transylvania and who hooked up its first collections around 1790. The collections had been formally opened to the public in 1817, making it the oldest organization of its type in Romania. It is a complicated of six museums, which, without being separate administrative entities, are located in distinctive locations around the metropolis and have their personal awesome cultural programmes.

The Art Galleries are located in the Brukenthal Palace and consist of a number of approximately 1,two hundred works belonging to the principle European colleges of painting, from the fifteenth to the 18th century: Flemish-Dutch, German and Austrian, Italian, Spanish and French Schools. The Galleries also encompass collections of engravings, books, numismatics, and minerals. The Brukenthal Library is also placed within the Brukenthal Palace. It incorporates approximately three hundred,000 library gadgets.
